Journalists from 19 media outlets across the globe—including Pakistan, Indonesia, Vietnam, South Korea, Iran, and Turkey—visited leading projects in Jinan related to new energy vehicles, green energy, biotechnology, and high-end intelligent manufacturing, exploring how Jinan leverages innovation to drive high-quality development, a vivid example of the “Jinan model” in China’s modernization journey.

Jinan High-tech Zone: A Rising Hub of Innovation and New Industrial Benchmarks

The media delegation first visited Jinan High-tech Industrial Development Zone, which showcases strong capabilities in biotech and advanced manufacturing. Shandong Freda Biotech has revolutionized the beauty industry with its “common origin of cosmetics and medicine” philosophy. Leveraging world-leading hyaluronic acid technology, the company has built brands such as Yilian and Dr. Aier. Its hyaluronic acid spray ranks among the top in national sales, backed by more than 160 patents. In 2024, it was recognized as a "National Sci-Tech Reform Demonstration Enterprise" by the State Council.

As a national-level “little giant” enterprise specializing in sophisticated technologies, Senfeng Laser has been focusing on the laser sector for 17 years. Holding over 700 patents, the company adheres to independent R&D and continuous technological innovation. Its products are widely applied in precision component manufacturing and are gradually entering fields such as new energy vehicles, advanced agricultural machinery, and aerospace, with customers in over 100 countries and regions.

Jinan Start-up Area: Green Momentum Powers a New Industrial Engine

In Jinan’s Start-up Area for the Transformation of New and Old Growth Drivers, the BYD Jinan Base became a highlight for international media. As a key project with a total investment of 15 billion yuan, the base integrates the entire production chain—from vehicle manufacturing to core component production. The base has established a complete system integrating smart sensing, flexible manufacturing, and digital management. The Start-up Area’s “dedicated task force” model has already provided nearly 400 hectares of land and accelerated the settlement of supporting enterprises, rapidly forming a new energy vehicle industrial cluster.

The area also features China’s first green, low-carbon vehicle-to-grid (V2G) interactive charging and battery swapping demonstration station, which operates on 100% green electricity and zero carbon emissions. It consists of an interactive area for V2G, a zero-carbon demonstration zone, a commercial fast-charging area, and an energy-storage-based battery swapping station, with 123 charging and swapping spaces that can serve over 36,000 new energy vehicles in the vicinity. The 600-kilowatt liquid-cooled ultra-fast charging pile can deliver 100 kWh in just 10 minutes, while the swapping station can complete up to 280 services per day and also helps regulate the power grid. The Start-up Area is also home to major projects such as Aiko Solar’s BC module production, Shandong Energy’s perovskite battery plant, and SPIC’s clean energy initiatives—forming a robust new energy industry cluster.

Exploring the 2nd Shandong Provincial Vocational Skills Competition

The media delegation also visited the Jinan Yellow River International Convention and Exhibition Center, located in the Start-up Area, to explore the Second Shandong Provincial Vocational Skills Competition.

A skills achievement exhibition was held alongside the competition, featuring a “Skillful Shandong” pavilion, skill showcases from 16 cities across the province, and live demonstrations. In the Jinan exhibition area, international reporters interacted with modern technology displays such as Inspur’s intelligent reception robot and desktop laser engraving DIY. They also observed immersive demonstrations of virtual welding and painting, Song Dynasty-style tea preparation, gourd carving, and traditional hemp weaving—experiencing the captivating fusion of traditional craftsmanship with digital innovation.

The “Opportunity China, Charming Jinan” international media tour offered a dynamic glimpse into Jinan’s transformation into a smart and innovative city.
